Having successfully delivered two events with the League Managers Association (LMA), Sounds Commercial was appointed Official Partner and Preferred Production Supplier to the LMA in March 2014.
The LMA is the collective, representative voice of all managers from the Barclays Premier League, the Sky Bet Championship and Sky Bet Leagues 1 and 2.
The first project as Official Partner was The 22nd LMA Annual Awards sponsored by Barclays at Old Billingsgate in London on Monday the 12th May 2014. This prestigious event recognises and honours the achievements and dedication of managers across the top four professional football leagues and sees over 850 guests attend.
This year eight awards were presented:
• LMA Manager of the Year sponsored by Barclays – presented by Roy Hodgson
Voted for by all LMA members and goes to the manager who, in their opinion, has made the greatest use of the resources available to him in the current season.
• LMA Service to Football Award – presented by Danny Wilson
Nominated by a panel of managers and is awarded for outstanding, long and meritorious service to the game.
• LMA Special Merit Award – presented by Sir Alex Ferguson CBE
Nominated by a panel of managers and is awarded for exceptional personal achievement during the current season.
• Barclays Premier League Manager of the Year – presented by Howard Wilkinson
Decided by the Barclays Panel of Judges.
• Sky Bet Football League Championship Managers of the Year – presented by David Moyes
• Sky Bet Football League 1 Managers of the Year – presented by Sam Allardyce
• Sky Bet Football League 2 Managers of the Year – presented by Chris Ughton
o The Sky Bet Awards are voted by all the managers in their respective divisions who again take into account which of their direct competitors has made the greatest use of the resources available to him in the current season.
• Budweiser FA Cup Manager of the Year – presented by Roberto Martinez
o Selected by a panel of managers and goes to the manager who has made the greatest impact on this year’s competition in relation to the resources available to him.
Our brief was clear:
• Deliver Awards with 2013 as a base guideline
• Deliver noticeable changes above and beyond 2013
• Decadent and chic throughout
• Continuously think about, and reinforce the LMA brand
• Produce a choreographed show incorporating all aspects of video, sound and lighting
And to build on the production value from 2013 we proposed and delivered a show that utilised the varying in-house services that we provide to include:
Entrance / Reception
• Green carpet with black rope and chrome poles for brand consistency
• Wall of green picture frames suspended from black drape with 21 winners (22nd to appear post awards)
• Large prints of previous winners suspended from truss
• Branded light columns
• Removal of band – background music played through PA
• VOGs through PA in all receptions
Main Event
• Twin ultra widescreen set
• Substantially increased quality of projection
• Additional Lighting and Star Cloth backdrop
• Opening video for start of event and awards
• Category stings with ‘top and tails’ for each award
• Closing video
After Party
• Relocation of After Party to Mezzanine
• LED furniture and DJ for after party on Mezzanine
• PA system for After Party
• Lighting for the After Party
And the feedback has been fantastic:
